Father's Day

Father's Day

Hello friends,

As I’ve been working on this latest series, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about memory.

Not the dramatic kind.

The quiet kind.

The feeling of walking beside someone you trust.
A hand reaching out to steady you.
The safety of simply knowing someone is there.

Maybe that’s part of why I’m so drawn to painting these peaceful shoreline scenes lately. They often feel less like specific places and more like emotional memories.

With Father’s Day here, I’ve been thinking about the people who quietly shape our lives in those ways — fathers, grandfathers, husbands, mentors, and anyone who offered love, protection, patience, or guidance when we needed it most.

I think art can sometimes hold those feelings for us long after moments have passed.

So today, beyond painting, I’m simply feeling grateful.

And to all the fathers and father figures reading this: Happy Father’s Day.

Thank you, as always, for following along with my work and allowing these paintings to become part of your homes and lives. It truly means a great deal to me.

Warmly,

Debra DeVere
